A note about this phrase (from Virakone Sonethasack):

“This quote is about a time when i had to be a monk for a period of about a week when my uncle died. I was in my teens and it was a jarring experience going from playing video games on my n64 to shaving my head bald and sleeping in a temple wearing orange robes with no underwear. Monks have a rule that they’re not supposed to eat after midday. When my cousins and uncles – who also had to do this – went together to get food, the older monks actually wanted us to get food that would be okay with my younger cousin. They decided to get him burgers. So imagine this group of 5-6 monks going to burger king in a van to grab this box of like 20 burgers to feed us all. It was a funny scene, looking back. In essence what I was going for with this quote is something along the lines of globalization and the merging of old tradition and contemporary environments.”
