This week’s feature: Trill Sammy & Dice Soho
Before I share my latest music pick, I will clarify that I do not condone anything that is said in the video and you are all responsible for your own lives. When it comes to music, I try not to discriminate, and I like stuff even if it doesn’t have anything to do with my lifestyle.
Now that I got that out the way, my featured artists for this week are Trill Sammy and Dice Soho. I’m a huge fan of so-called “ignorant” rappers like Gucci Mane, Chief Keef, Young Thug and Migos, so I became a fan as soon as I came upon their single “Just Watch.”
At only ages 18 and 20 respectively, I discovered their song two weeks after it was uploaded and immediately linked up with them to do an interview. As a lover of Houston hip-hop, growing up on guys like Pimp C, Devin The Dude, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Mike Jones, Z-Ro, Trae, Lil Keke and more, it is surprising to see how this new generation of Houston rappers have departed from that traditional “I done came down” sound to something more synonymous with post-Migos Atlanta style.
It’s not just the trap sound I like, I think their look is pretty interesting and could be appealing to people who aren’t necessarily into “gangster rap” or trap music (They could be more marketable than Rae Srmuurd.) Trill Sammy is also one of the most talented freestylers I’ve seen as of late; his one-liners are hilarious.
If they keep putting in work and going in the right direction, I can see them getting pretty big.
